Biography

Doug Henry was admitted to practice law in 2001 and he has been practicing family law almost exclusively for the past sixteen years. Doug worked in the Office of the Counsel to the Governor in Albany, New York while he attended law school at Albany Law School.

Upon graduation, he worked for a large law firm in New York City until moving to Cleveland in 2007, to be closer to family. In order to attend to his clients’ family law issues, Doug has appeared in domestic relations, juvenile, probate, general division, criminal, and municipal courts across Ohio. Currently, Doug is the Chair of the Lorain County Bar Association Domestic Relations Section and a member of the Lorain County Bar Association Executive Board.

Doug has an interest in the affect familial discord and litigation have on generational wealth, children and society. In the past, Doug has served as a board member for Voices for Children and the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court Guardian ad Litem Project. Doug is an Ohio certified Divorce Mediator and Parenting Coordinator and served as a Guardian ad Litem for over ten years. Doug is also trained as a Collaborative Law practitioner.

Doug has published articles on family law and guardianship in the Domestic Relations Journal of Ohio and the Lorain County Legal Times. Doug is a member of various professional associations including the American Bar Association Artificial Reproduction Technology Committee.

Outside of work Doug enjoys spending time with his family outdoors. Doug spends an exorbitant amount of his leisure time watching Rugby, a sport that he played in college, law school and beyond. Having caused much damage to his body in his youth, he now enjoys low impact sports such as rock climbing and fly-fishing.
